Judo means ‘gentle way’ and it is a form of Japanese martial art. It was started in late 19th century and uses only hands and legs. The objective is to throw ones opponent to the ground or immobilize him in other ways. It has become very popular and in now practiced in many parts of the world. The most popular form of judo is the Olympic judo which is more of a sport.
There are many schools in Bangkok where anyone can learn judo. The school at the Thai–Japanese Stadium in Din Daeng is good one. Also, there are schools at the National Stadium in Pathumwan and at The Sports Authority of Thailand (adjacent to the Institute of International Studies on the Ramkhamhaeng University Campus), where the photos were taken.
The schools usually opened at 10am and close at 10pm in the evening. So, for any person interested is studying judo, Bangkok is as good as other places.
