There is the place next to Huamak Stadium (which you see from the IIS building), where every day a group of people gathers for riding (or playing, as they say) BMX.
Head of the group is Kritsada Prathumma who was the BMX champion at Asian Indoor Games 2005. The group practices (or plays) ever day from 4pm to 8pm.
If you are a beginner and you have no idea who can teach you, you can directly go to Kritsada or go to the group and tell them that you are looking for a teacher to teach you BMX cycling. Most likely, every Thai who plays BMX knows Kritsada.
Besides, Kritsada runs an BMX and equipment shop named “Rollya”. The shop is nearby and not hard to find. He will teach you for free. You can also simply join the group, they can teach you as well (for free, of course).
Normally the bike for a beginner is around 6,000 Bath, but if you don’t want to buy you can rent it at 500 Baht per day.
There are competitions 3 times per year. The competition will be in Khon Kaen in the northeast of Thailand, and a final round will be in Bangkok.
